URGENT: Serious security flaw found in Microsoft Internet Explorer
From the BBC News:
Users of Microsoft's Internet Explorer are being urged by experts to switch to a rival until a serious security flaw has been fixed. The flaw in Microsoft's Internet Explorer could allow criminals to take control of people's computers and steal their passwords, internet experts say....
"Microsoft is continuing its investigation of public reports of attacks against a new vulnerability in Internet Explorer," said the firm in a security advisory alert about the flaw.
Microsoft says it has detected attacks against IE 7.0 but said the "underlying vulnerability" was present in all versions of the browser. Other browsers, such as Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari, are not vulnerable to the flaw Microsoft has identified.
I strongly urge all of my clients who still use Internet Explorer to switch to Firefox right way. It's easy to use, much safer, faster, more reliable, more scalable... the list goes on. It's just a better browser, period.
When a security hole is found in Microsoft software, they put a small team together to find a fix and try to keep everything all hushed up. When a security problem is revealed in open source software, thousands of developers work together put a fix together much more quickly and efficiently... and the problem is usally fixed before it is exploited. That's why you don't see these kind of problems in well-managed open source projects like Firefox.
Give Firefox a try... I'm certain you'll like it.
